October saw the launch of This Girl Can Classes at Mytime Active – an exciting new type of exercise class from the This Girl Can initiative supported by The National Lottery and Sport England.
Launched in 2015, This Girl Can has helped nearly 3 million women find their own way to exercise. These new classes are the latest way women and girls can improve their fitness in a comfortable and encouraging environment.
Mytime Active have worked together with EMDUK (The national governing body for group exercise) to train 16 Mytime Active instructors to run the classes. So far, they’ve successfully launched at three of their sites – West Wickham, The Pavilion and The Spa at Beckenham, and plan to roll out to further sites, including Hatchford Brook and Pype Hayes in the Midlands.
The classes themselves include multiple disciplines that change every week to add variety, acting as an introduction to various group exercise classes. These could include Dance fit, Yoga inspired stretch or Box fit, therefore allowing attendees to “try on” a discipline and build the confidence to attend further classes.
Lindsey Perry, Group Exercise Programme Manager commented.
“It been a great team effort along with EMDUK to train our instructors to deliver this really fun class. We’ve had two packed sessions already and have received really positive feedback – we’ve even had The Times popping in to try it out! There really is no wrong or right way to enjoy the class, in fact I’m a firm believer in “if in doubt, shake it out”. At the end of the day, it’s about combining fitness and fun!”.
Classes are now running across their three Bromley sites with a further roll out expected – for more information and to book a class visit www.mytimeactive.co.uk/this-girl-can-classes
